Summer Tutoring Program: Great Minds Tutors offers a summer tutoring program to ensure students are ready for the coming year. Not only does summer tutoring prevent students from falling behind, but it also assists students with learning new skills and advancing ahead of their peers.
College and Career Planning Program: Our College and Career Planning program provides individualized assistance in exploring educational and job options based on students' interests and abilities. Each student is provided a unique login to his or her own individualized career portfolio, which is a secure workspace that records and stores all education and career plans, assessment results, activities, ideas and more.
To begin the program, each student is given a variety of career assessments in order to develop a list of occupations based on his or her interests, values, and skills. These assessments include the following:
- Interest Profiler - examines which careers fit the student's interests
- Work Values Sorter - connects the student's work values with careers
- Basic Skills Survey - examines which careers require the student's basic skills
- Cluster Finder - finds the career clusters that match the student best
- Workplace Skills Checklist - examines which careers match the student's workplace skills
- Transferable Skills Checklist - connects the skills the student has learned can lead to new opportunities
Next, students learn how to use their individualized career portfolio to:
- Explore 8,000 colleges, technical schools, and graduate schools throughout the nation
- Compare schools based on key facts, such as location, tuition and costs, programs offered, sports, and campus life
- Explore careers based on education requirements, skills, career facts, and salaries
- Compare two careers alongside each other
Additionally, the individualized career portfolio offers a scholarship finder, resume builder, cover letter creator, and many more tools to help students achieve success.
